Not many construction companies can say they have been a defining force in their industry. But that’s not the case for James McHugh Construction Co. “We’ve been pushing the boundaries of multifamily construction since 1960,” Senior Vice President John Sheridan says.

Based in Chicago, McHugh Construction specializes in concrete construction, historic restoration, special-use and infrastructure projects in Chicago and across the country. But the company got its start in the multifamily sector in the 1960s when it built Marina City, the iconic residential towers in its home city.

KSK Construction Group is managing the construction of a 25-story luxury condominium project in New York City where competition is fierce and project logistics are complex. The company confidently takes on complex projects and soars to new heights by relying on its management team’s extensive experience in real estate development for a wide spectrum of clients.

“Three partners with years of experience in heavy construction started KSK Construction Group in the early 2000s, starting with small development projects in Brooklyn,” Project Manager Ali Cuhruk says. “Over time they built up the business, increased the scale and right now we have five major building projects in Manhattan and five in Brooklyn and Queens. We only function in New York and the partners are still hands-on, overseeing every project.”

Brooks & Freund LLC believes in being fully accountable for the quality of its projects. “It’s not just how we complete a building that sets us apart, it’s how we handle issues afterward,” says Rose McCurry, director of operations for the Fort Myers, Fla.-based company. “We stand by our products and the job we’ve done – if something comes up on a project and it’s not what we promised, we will take care of it.”

The company works closely with its clients and subcontractors to address any concerns that may arise during its work. “Our network of reliable subcontractors makes all of our projects successful – we help them, and they secure labor and materials to keep our projects going,” she adds.
